The Home

I had never met the original home owner, yet the lush yard was always cut and the fruit trees in seasonal bloom. While attending an estate sale being held at the property, I learned the house had been unoccupied for the previous two years, and was now going on the market. Something very special came over me the moment I entered the door, it was a feeling of being at home.

Careful time was spent going from room to room, taking in the family history through photos, book collections, tableware, board games, and wool overcoats. A folding table sat in the den adorned with blue and white china. The couple’s parents carefully brought it back from their travels in Japan in the 1950’s, and it would be their wedding gift. A few of the pieces had been picked, but the remainder was coming home with me.

The 1957 Mid-Century home only had this one loving owner, so most of the original features of the design are still intact. A favorite being the wood vaulted ceilings throughout and the vintage dutch door in the kitchen.
